Diversity or just Strategy

The Straits Times recently published a study on diversity by NUS. The study reveals that “companies that load senior positions with chronologically senior people delivered lower returns on assets compared with others.” It also discovered that appointing people with more than 10 years of industry experience to leadership positions helps in delivering higher returns on assets. An interesting finding is that “an equal number of women and men at the top rungs delivered their best acts for shareholders.”

Tip that balance with one more woman, however, and performance slipped, says the joint study led by the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at the National University of Singapore.

When I read this, I wondered if this is solely about diversity. I came to the conclusion that this is not solely about diversity. It also concerns strategy.

Why? If you would, please allow me to take a 5 more minutes of your time to explain by clicking here .
